We're Still Here...Are You? :)

After nearly three months, I guess it’s time we get on this thing and talk about ourselves again. I'm sure you all miss us gushing over our boring lives. It seems like since we don’t have kids, don’t have a good excuse to be super excited to tell everyone about all the little updates in our lives. Babies are a lot cuter than we are to talk about! Either way, here’s another round of updates.

A while back, there was a wicked awesome sale on strawberries. I ended up buying 4 cases (32 lbs) of strawberries and made a boat load of freezer jam with Joe’s sister Brita. The boys played Nintendo while the girls slaved away in the kitchen making all sorts of deliciousness and Charlie (our nephew) kept busy by stealing as many strawberries as possible to feed to the dogs. They ate so many, I was sure they were going to get the runs. They didn’t. I was relieved, though I guess that would have made for an interesting turn in the story.

Last month we tiled our kitchen. It looks awesome. Now we just need to paint and install some bead board, chair rail and baseboard…Though, I’m not sure Joe is fully aware of my bead board and chair rail plans...I guess he will be now. We were really blessed to find a house in our price range that didn’t need any fix ups so we could spend our time and money on upgrades we want instead of those we need.

Joe received a promotion at work. He’s now in technical support for Thermo Fisher. He seems to really enjoy it and we’re happy about the raise :)

And after the tiling of our kitchen was completed, the craziness began. My Auntie Mac came to visit us for a blissful week. It was awesome to have her stay with us for so long and we had a lot of fun hanging out together. I really miss her…I think we’ll have to make visits like that a yearly event.

Then came Lisa’s wedding in Provo. Everything turned out really beautiful and all of Lisa’s hard work really paid off. I’m glad it was such a happy day. And I’m especially grateful that we found the marriage license in time!!

After the wedding, we had Jeff, Jon, Teresa, Madison and my Dad come stay in Logan for a few days. We had a lot of fun and it was great to see everyone—especially Madison. I saw a quote once that read “Children fill the hole in your heart you never knew was there.” Though we don’t have kids yet, it’s easy to know that it’s totally true with such sweet nephews and nieces!! I wish we lived closer so I could see her more!! While they were visiting, we went to Hogle Zoo in SLC, Willow Park Zoo in Logan, a community pool with water slides and Bear Lake to rent jet skis. We also had a little birthday party for Madison. It was an all around great visit.

After the birthday party, we got up early to take my dad and Jeff to the airport and then we headed off to the Meyer Family Reunion over the weekend of the 4th. We picked up my friend Sara in Salt Lake on the way. She’s been adopted into the family and comes to a lot of our get togethers, so it was nice to have her there.

Speaking of Sara, she’ll be running in the Top of Utah Marathon. Kudos to her! She’s awesome and we’ll be glad to be there to root her on!

Anyways, back to the reunion. It was in Hanna, UT. Population: Tire. No, really…it’s super small!! But when you’re camping in the middle of no where, what else do you need other than a bunch of crazy relatives?? The fire works show was a total of about 7 clusters with about 30 seconds between the first 4 and the last three all lit together for the “grand finale”. It was quite an impressive show ;)

Once we got home, it was just a matter of putting our house back together from so many visitors and getting back to life. Things are just getting back to normal and we found out two weeks ago that our ward of 950+ people is finally splitting. Our Bishop says it’s about time, and I’m going to have to agree. With the split of the ward, we were released from our calling (teaching the 5 years olds) and Joe says it's about time for that. Now Joe is callingless for the time being and I’ve been called to be in the Primary Presidency. It’s bit overwhelming for me, but I’m eager to serve. Having been in the Primary for two years now, I love to see how excited the children are to learn about Jesus and about Heavenly Father’s plan for us. Their faith is so simple; it’s really something to strive to emulate.

That was pretty much our life in a nutshell for the last three months. So, if you’re still here, thanks for sticking around. Hopefully it won’t be another 3 months before we update again!
