Just when I get sick of having nothing to do, we have a weekend where I feel like there isn't even time to breathe.
We had planned to paint the kitchen on Saturday. Friday our new fridge was going to arrive and I was totally stoked. Something got mixed up with our purchase, and the fridge never came. Not really a big deal...except for that I was so excited and now we have to find it somewhere else. It was so pretty too...
So, I get over the fact that my beautiful new fridge is not coming. No big deal. Then Paul and Candace decide they want to move on Saturday. It was super short notice (literally hours), so we decide to paint friday. Joe actually got off work a little early and with the help of my friend Emily, Paul and Candace, they had it finished by the time I got home at 4:15. It was so awesome!! Here are some pictures...
Don't look at the ugly brass light fixture. Those are next in line to be replaced :)
If you notice at the top, Joe put up the poor man's version of crown moulding. He's his own worst critic, so he might be unhappy I posted a close up of his work...but he also said that he wanted an unbiased opinion of how it looks. Not that pictures on a blog are the best medium for that, but it'll have to do.
The paint is a little lighter than I wanted, but that's okay. I had in mind a little more of a grayish blue. The kitchen looks a little too country for my taste, so we'll have to "modernize" it with some
artwork on the walls and stainless steel appliances (though we already planned on the latter).
So, anywho, painting was done Friday and Saturday morning we got up early to run to Lowes (one of my favorite stores ever) to get that moulding stuff. I don't really know what to call it. Crown moulding is a little too fancy for what it is :) Joe was about 1/3 done putting it up when Paul arrived with the moving truck. So we took a 6 hour break to help them move. I love their little place that they found. It's so big and roomy for the price they found it at. It's a steal! We finished moving and went back to work.
Bleh. It was a non stop day. Moving at our house sucks. All of their stuff was upstairs since that's where all three bedrooms are. It was a big pain. Atleast I didn't have to go to the gym :) A lot was accomplished, but I was exhausted!!
