the one with the unintentional double entendre

She: playing Spider Solitaire while laying on her belly in bed.
He: excited that wife is playing a computer game.
She: very entranced by a thrilling game of Spider Solitaire.
He: rubbing her back, slightly suggestively.
She: looking for a place to move the Jack of Spades.
He: "Hey, do you like Mah-Jongg?"
She: "Do I like your what?"

What I'm Working on Now

Those who know me well know I can't sit still for more than 5 minutes before I get bored and restless. It's hard to even watch TV without keeping my hands busy. I usually keep them busy by quilting. My sewing machine broke in the middle of making our Mario quilt. I had to borrow my friend's machine to finish it. So, until we can buy a new machine, I've been keeping busy with this:

It's pretty labor intensive. Hopefully I'll have it done before we retire!

It's been a month.

A lot of things can happen in a month, you know.

A life can change in 10 seconds or less, and the last time I posted was 2,592,000 seconds ago. That's a lot of potentially lifechanging moments.

But did our life change? Not so much. We finally put up baseboard and caulked it. Our friend Sara moved into our spare room. Our friend Emily is going to buy a townhouse. We started answering text messages for ChaCha for some spare cash, which is actually kind of fun. Oh, and we went to Circus Circus over the weekend! That was fun.

So maybe all of these things are lifechanging, but I'm too shortsighted to recognize them as that. But I hope that ten years down the road that I'll be able to pinpoint the exact moment that I started to become a billionaire to one of those 2,592,000 seconds.

The One with the Whiny Dogs

Sadie and Kona don't have a very big vocabulary(in English, anyways, but they're always spewing vulgaraties at other dogs in Doggonese), but there are a few words that get them riled up.

The phrase "go for" gets them perked up, especially when coupled with "walk" or "ride".

They also know "upstairs", "downstairs", "treat", "go lay down" (which basically means 'quit bugging me'), "down", "go to your bed" (which is in our closet in our bedroom), "go to your room" (which is their kennel in our computer closet downstairs), and a few names, too.

Here's a video Angela made earlier tonight trying some of these phrases out.

The One with the Zoo

So it's been awhile since we've shown you any sweet pictures. We traded cameras with someone awhile ago, and decided that we finally ought to copy some pictures from it to the computer. With this newfangled digital technology, we figured it was probably time for an update.

One of our most recent picture posts was about our trip to the Zoo back in April. Utah has two great zoos, one of which we have already documented. But nestled in the bellybutton of Cache Valley next to the lint pile is a caged wonder of wonder so splendiferous it just might knock your socks off:

The Logan Zoo.

This guy was totally eating out of my hand.

It's not really a zoo in the traditional sense where you see animals like Lions and Tigers and Bears (oh my!), and it isn't quite a petting zoo because you're not really supposed to touch any of the animals either. But they have dry animal food in a vending machine that allows you the magic of feeding ducks, fish, peacocks, or anything else that isn't behind a "don't feed me!" sign for only ten cents a pop.

What a pretty turkey.

When it's all said and done, the Logan Zoo isn't a very good zoo, but it's a nice place. I give it good prize. *ding!*

We've also been hanging out with Emil and Caroline, and that's been pretty fun. We heard a lot of verbage about Raspberry Days up at Bear Lake, and so like any other red-blooded Loganites, we hopped in our Mystery Mobile and decided to investigate!

Here we are in front of a giant wooden head.

It was pretty fun. We went to the fair and saw some stuff, and then we went to Merlin's and ate some delicious stuff. I've decided if we ever decide to name one of our kids Merlin, he or she had better be a good burger cook.

Angela's been doing some themed quilting on request of the Huz (that's me). I'm not gonna tell you exactly what she's been up to, but she's nearly halfway done already. Here's a picture below.

Itsa me, Mario!

I'm way excited. It's gonna be our pic-a-nic quilt. That's pretty much been us in a nutshell for the last something or other -- it's been fun!

Sayonara Flip Flops

I've had a problem over the last 5 years where my toes fall asleep whenever I go running or walking. It used to happen after about 45 minutes to an hour. It wasn't ever really a problem because by the time my foot went numb I'd be done with my workout anyhow. Over time, it has whittled down to 5-10 minutes...which has not really been conducive to getting any real exercise. Apparently the problem is that my nerves are enflamed and are being pinched by my "toe knuckles."

So, I went to the podiatrist yesterday. Along with a pretty painful shot in the foot to help with the inflammation, the Doctor gave me a recommendation....well, it was a little more like an order. I can't wear flip flops any more! *sad face* I can live with this...it'll take some getting used to, but I figure I can do it. The hard part is that I'm also not supposed to go barefoot at all anymore. I know I'm just being dramatic and it's really not that big of a deal, but seriously?!?! No bare feet or flip flops? My life is over! ;)

My Rant on Kung Fu Panda

After watching a preview for Kung Fu Panda, I wasn’t sure it was going to be a movie that I was going to like. And after seeing the movie Wednesday night, my assumptions of what the jokes were going to be were correct.

So, here’s what your kids (and I) learned from Kung Fu Panda:

Fat people are clumsy and fun to laugh at:
The size of Po’s belly is the punch line of the majority of the movie jokes

Being fat is something a person can be judged on:

"That flabby panda can't possibly be the dragon warrior. You were about to appoint the tigress and that "thing" fell in front of her"

"One would think master Ugway would at least choose someone who could touch his toes...or at least see his toes"

It's disgusting to watch a fat person eat:
When Shifu walks in to find Po eating in the pantry, Po says, “Yeah, I know, I disgust you.”

Fat people will do anything for food and get
angry when you take food away from them:
Shifu trains Po with food by having him try to catch and defend his dumplings culminating in a "fight" with Shifu over the last dumpling.

Sure, it’s true that in the end Po ends up believing in himself…blah blah blah…What a shame that arriving at that conclusion comes at the expense of the gross perpetuation of the last socially acceptable form of stereotyping.
